The 3Com Switch 8800 IPSec Module delivers high-performance hardware-based encrypted VPNs, integrated within the Switch 8800 system. It supports multiple authentication modes, including RADIUS, TACACS+, RSA SecureID and PKI/X.509-based certificate authentication. In addition, the module supplies simple packet filter and status firewall features.

Designed for the needs of medium-sized enterprises, the module has its own operating system, allowing the additional VPN processes to be separated from the switch processing. By embedding the IPSec application within the module, the need for additional appliances or devices is reduced, eliminating redundant management of multiple devices and lowering capital expenditures and reducing operating costs.
